"Zero Hour" Act of Remembrance

On Friday morning 1st July at 7.30am there will be a short act of remembrance at the town war memorial beside St. Cedma's Church of Ireland. This has been organised by the local branch of the Royal British Legion. The previously notified event at the First Larne First World War Memorial will not now take place.

It was at 7.30am on the morning of 1st July 1916 that the whistles blew to signal the charge from the trenches into No Man's Land, thus beginning the Battle of the Somme, which was to last for a further 141 days.
